Hamilton beats Rosberg to pole in Spain

Mercedes AMG Petronas Lewis Hamilton recovered from a mistake on his first flying lap in Q3 to secure pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, ahead of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton set a rapid sector one time on his first Q3 effort but locked up both tyres heavily into Turn 10, missing the apex and compromising the remainder of his lap. It left Rosberg with an advantage of eight-tenths of a second after the first runs, with Hamilton in third spot.
