Vettel happy with qualifying after dire start to weekend

Grand Prix of Europe – After starting the weekend some two seconds off Mercedes’ pace, Sebastian Vettel was happy to be 3rd in qualifying in a close battle with Red Bull. Vettel was running third in the session when the red flag for Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes came out, but Daniel Ricciardo managed to pip the German by setting an identical lap time to him, but because Ricciardo’s lap was set later, he goes ahead. He is promoted, however, by Sergio Perez’s 5-place grid penalty for a gearbox change following his crash at Turn 15 at the end of FP3. “Yesterday we weren’t very strong.
