Nico Rosberg escapes penalty following qualifying investigation

Nico Rosberg has escaped penalty for 'exceeding the maximum time' between the two Safety Car lines during qualifying for the British Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver had been called to the stewards office to explain why one of his laps was so slow, well over two minutes, which is in breach of Article 27.5 of the Sporting Regulations. However having heard from Rosberg and a team representative, as well as studying video evidence, the stewards chose not to penalise the German because he 'was not on an in lap when the time between the Safety Car lines was set'. Rosberg will therefore start second behind Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
