Alonso to get grid penalty after engine change

Fernando Alonso is set to start the Belgian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after needing an engine change following first practice. The McLaren driver, using the new Honda engine the Japanese manufacturer used seven tokens to upgrade for Spa, could not complete a timed lap in FP1 after suffering a water leak in the ERS. McLaren has confirmed Alonso will need to use new ICE, MGU-H, MGU-K, turbo, control electronics and energy store. As it is the sixth unit of each, Alonso is set to get a 35-place grid penalty. The team said the new components will be the same spec as the ones used in FP1, meaning the Spanish driver will at least have the upgraded engine at his disposal.
