Formula 1 pre-season testing to be held in Barcelona
United States Grand Prix – 2017 Formula 1 pre-season testing will take place in Barcelona as originally planned, following weeks of pressure from Pirelli to hold at least one test in Bahrain.
With Formula 1's tyre structures and sizes changing for 2017, Pirelli were chasing testing at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain, due to the higher levels of abrasion and hotter temperatures which would allow for more extreme testing of their tyres. However, the F1 regulations will only allow for testing to take place outside of Europe if the FIA and all the teams agree.
