Mercedes escape sanction for curfew break due to Hamilton repairs

United States Grand Prix – Mercedes AMG Formula 1 team escaped penalty on Saturday morning after being found to have broken official curfew rules on Friday night. A problem with Lewis Hamilton's fuel system after FP2 resulted in the team requiring time to carry out repairs to the complex system. However, this resulted in the team breaking staff curfew rules in place to protect Formula 1 staff from becoming overworked and stressed over the course of a weekend. Team staff who work on the car and associated operations are not permitted within the circuit confines for an eight hour period overnight, starting at 11pm.
