FIA clampdown on defensive moves under braking
United States Grand Prix – The FIA have clamped down on aggressive defensive manoeuvres under braking. There is a heavy connotation with such moves and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who came under heavy fire during Friday’s drivers’ briefing, prompting the FIA to clarify what can and cannot be done in the age-old art of wheel to wheel racing. The Dutchman first sparked conversation on the matter with his borderline moves during the Hungarian and Belgian Grand Prix, but his latest “offense” was at the previous race in Japan where, in the latter stages of the race, Verstappen closed the door on a charging Lewis Hamilton into the final chicane, causing the Mercedes driver to take...
