Ericsson: Strategy gamble only points chance
– Marcus Ericsson felt Sauber's one-stop gamble at the United States Grand Prix was its only chance of claiming its first point of the campaign, before he eventually came home in 14th place.Ericsson, who started from 16th, moved up to 13th place on the opening lap and adopted a Soft/Medium approach, rather than the two-stop strategy adopted by the bulk of the field.Ericsson moved up to 11th place as the strategies diverged, before ultimately being overhauled during the closing stages by fellow one-stopper Daniil Kvyat and both Renault drivers."It was a tough beginning to the race with some nice fights," said Ericsson."On the Soft tyres I had a decent pace.
