Mercedes: We have to consider Alonso

Despite McLaren insisting that Fernando Alonso is going nowhere, Mercedes have revealed that he is being ‘considered' for Nico Rosberg's vacant seat. With Rosberg quitting Formula 1 days after winning the World title, Mercedes are looking at their options for next year's championship. Alonso was touted by the media as a possible replacement only for new McLaren boss Zak Brown to insist that the driver is happy right where he is. 'We have a contract with Fernando and he is very happy,' he told Sky Sports. 'Obviously he wants to be winning races, as do we, but I am not worried about that scenario.
