Hamilton fastest as new F1 era begins
– Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton set the pace as Formula 1's new technical era got under way with pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Monday, ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.Hamilton took over from new team-mate Valtteri Bottas for the afternoon and worked his way down to a 1:21.765 on Soft tyres, beating last year's pole position time.Vettel, who topped the morning, finished just over a tenth of a second back, his best time coming on the Medium rubber, as he racked up the most individual mileage (126 laps).Mercedes led the overall lap charts, however, with Hamilton completing 73, and Bottas racking up 79, totalling 152, as part of the team's plan to split...
