Carlos Sainz Jr handed grid penalty for Lance Stroll collision

Carlos Sainz Jr. has been given a three-place grid penalty for colliding with Lance Stroll during the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Spaniard was also awarded two penalty points on his license for the incident, bringing his 12-month total up to seven. Sainz emerged from the pitlane and went up the inside of Stroll, but the Williams took the first corner and the two cars clashed. It put both drivers out of the race on the spot and the safety car was deployed as a result. The stewards investigated the collision after the race and deemed Sainz was at fault for the contact.
