Story behind the photo: Dan the Man’s crazy victory
After every grand prix, ace photographer Mark Sutton of Sutton Images gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to cover Formula 1 from behind the lens. The setting for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is just stunning, near the coast of Baku and mixed between the historical buildings and castle walls with the newer skyscrapers offering some amazing backdrops for images. My best shot from one of the most exciting races in years shows Daniel Ricciardo holding up both his hands asking his team ‘What happened there – how did I win this crazy race?’ Ricciardo was aggressive – as I got to see close-up, track-side, as he made some daring moves into the first turn.
