Lewis Hamilton heads shortened, wet FP2 in Japan

Persistent rainfall resulted in limited running during the second practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix, with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton notionally fastest. Rain began to fall during the closing stages of the morning session at Suzuka, which was led by Sebastian Vettel, and continued to affect the circuit throughout lunchtime. Officials delayed the start of the second session due to the standing water, with track inspections taking place at 15-minute intervals. The signal was given to begin proceedings with 45 minutes remaining and a handful of drivers appeared on full Wet tyres to complete an installation lap.
