Stroll to take grid penalty for gearbox change
Lance Stroll will take a five-place grid penalty for Formula 1's Brazilian Grand Prix after Williams elected to change his gearbox ahead of qualifying. The Canadian suffered a car problem early in Saturday morning’s free practice session, as he failed to set a laptime. Following examination of the car back at the garage, Williams has elected to both change his gearbox and fit a different engine. The change of gearbox will result in a five-place grid penalty, but there will be no punishment for the use of the replacement engine as it comes from the original allocation of the four power units he is allowed for the season.
