Date change sees Alonso contest full WEC season

A surprise decision to change the date of the Six Hours of Fuji will allow Fernando Alonso to contest the full 2018 WEC season. Though the decision has not gone down well with many rival teams and drivers, it was announced today that the Fuji event has been moved forward a week in order that it no longer clashes with the United States Grand Prix, thereby enabling Alonso to contest both events. Late last month McLaren confirmed that it had granted Alonso permission to contest Le Mans and the WEC, the Spaniard keen to add the French classic as he pursues him dream of the Triple Crown.
