Le Mans: Toyota and Alonso make history

Toyota have finally claimed the trophy they wanted most when they powered to a historic one-two victory at the 86th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours sharing the Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050-Hybrid with Fernando Alonso, Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi sharing cockpit duties. Victory at the legendary Sarthe circuit took twenty years to come and in the aftermath of a heart-breaking last-lap loss last year. It also takes McLaren F1 driver Alonso to one win – the Indy 500 – away from the Triple Crown of Motorsport, an accolade that only Graham Hill achieved five decades ago.
