Red Bull will refuse to use new Renault upgrade

Red Bull will not be using the new upgraded Renault MGU-K that will be available to all Renault customers this weekend in Austria. Both Red Bull and McLaren would incur penalties for breach of regulations should they take another engine component over the maximum of three for the season. According to Marca, Renault has been using a 2017-spec MGU-K however the new upgrade will be made available for the second of three back-to-back races in 2018 at the Red Bull Ring. Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul said that it was down to each customer team as to whether they want to run the new upgrade. "It will be available in Austria for all the cars that want it," he said.
