Vandoorne's race ended by gearbox failure

Hungarian Grand Prix – McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne had his promising race ended by a gearbox failure while running in the points. Coming off the back of consecutive poor weekends in Silverstone & Hockenheim, McLaren elected to give Stoffel Vandoorne a fresh chassis for the Hungarian weekend as they were unable to identify the issues he was having with the old one. Initially, it didn't seem to make a huge amount of difference as the Belgian driver got knocked out in Q1 for the fifth consecutive event, but he was to turn it around in the race.
