Daniel Ricciardo's signing shows Renault's F1 intent - Nico Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg says Renault’s acquisition of a driver of Daniel Ricciardo’s stature demonstrates the manufacturer’s intent to return to front-running contention in Formula 1. Renault returned to Formula 1 in 2016 fielding ex-McLaren racer Kevin Magnussen and rookie Jolyon Palmer, while last season midfield stalwart Hulkenberg moved across from Force India. Hulkenberg, who was joined by Carlos Sainz Jr. for the latter stages of 2017 and 2018, has spearheaded Renault’s gradual climb through the midfield ranks during that period.
