The 1000th Grand Prix weekend might have been a bit more impactful were it not for the fact that it took place in China. The People's Republic is not everyone's cup of tea and every year, after the race, there is a stampede of F1 people for Pudong International Airport. This is not really difficult to understand because F1 folks are not big fans of bureaucracy and the Chinese love it and so there is a clash of cultures. There is also a clash within Chinese society with the those who see value in the control that was exercised in the old days of Communism and others who want more freedom.
