FIA scraps plans for single supplier of gearboxes from 2021
Monaco Grand Prix – The FIA have announced that a recommendation to not appoint a single supplier of gearboxes has been upheld. As part of the attempts to reduce costs for Formula 1 from 2021, the FIA launched a tender process during pre-season testing in Barcelona. They accepted submissions for the tender of the supply of a single gearbox supply from 2021. However, despite receiving several tenders, the World Motor Sport Council has announced that this move will no longer go ahead after detailed analysis of the tenders by the FIA's Technical Department.
