Alonso: Hopefully it's the first win of many for Honda
Fernando Alonso has reportedly moved to downplay the latest speculation about a return to Formula 1 while doffing his hat to Honda who scored their first victory of the hybrid era in Austria on Sunday. Commenting on Honda's first win with Red Bull in the hybrid F1 era, Alonso said, 'You cannot compare. It has been a few years now so I guess the engines are very different.' The Spaniard famously called the Japanese power unit a 'GP2 engine' during the ill-fated McLaren-Honda days. 'In the past we worked as hard as we could and sometimes we overcame the deficit and penalties for using many engines per season, but it was part of the process probably.
