F1 Paddock Notebook – German GP Saturday

- Lewis Hamilton scored the 87th pole position of his Formula 1 career in Saturday’s qualifying session at Hockenheim, edging out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by three-tenths of a second in the final Q3 fight. It marked Hamilton’s fifth pole of the year, and his first at Hockenheim since 2008. - Hamilton took pole despite feeling unwell with flu over the past few days, prompting Mercedes to make arrangements for Esteban Ocon to take over his seat if the Briton was unable to qualify.
