Now Argentina wants a spot on the calendar

Argentina is the latest country to throw its name in the hat for a spot on the F1 calendar, at least according to the country's sports mister. Argentina hosted 21 F1 grands prix between 1953 and 1998. The race was dropped from the calendar due to financial troubles and the outdated facilities at the Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez in Buenos Aires. However, two decades later the country's new sports minister Matias Lammens is keen to see Formula 1 return to the South American country.
