Bottas delighted to 'unlock potential' and claim pole

Valtteri Bottas was jubilant after beating Lewis Hamilton to pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix on Saturday. Bottas was a slender 0.012s faster than his Mercedes team mate at the end of qualifying, despite going off the track and through the gravel on his final push lap. “I finally managed to unlock some performance from myself and from the car for the qualifying," he said after the end of the session. “There were certain corners that I sometimes got right, but mostly I was just a bit off," he explained.
