Vietnam organisers officially call off 2020 F1 round

The 2020 running of Formula 1’s Vietnam Grand Prix has been officially cancelled, organisers announced on Friday. The championship was due to race at a semi-permanent street circuit, located on the outskirts of capital city Hanoi, in April. But the event was postponed in mid-March as the Covid-19 pandemic worsened and it did not feature in any subsequent changes to the calendar. The finalised 2020 roster, released in July, confirmed the ommission of Vietnam by Formula 1 chiefs but the event officially remained postponed.
