Perez: I never expected to make front row
Article To news overview © Getty Images/Red Bull Contentpool Sergio Perez was left surprised by how well qualifying went on Saturday at Imola, after taking a front row slot for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The Mexican driver crossed the line at the end of Q3 to finish less than half a tenth behind polesitter Lewis Hamilton, and will start the race on the soft compound with the Mercedes on the medium. Perez, while solid this weekend, hasn't really shown such single lap pace all weekend, and admitted to some surprise afterwards.
