Verstappen heads Ferrari duo in first practice
Austrian Grand Prix – Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has set the fastest time in opening practice for the Austrian GP, ahead of the two Ferrari’s. The Dutchman set a time of 1:05.143 on the soft compound tyres, a quarter of a second quicker than Charles Leclerc. Teammate Carlos Sainz set the third fastest time, just 0.022s off the Monegasque’s time. In the overcast morning session, the teams were trialling a new set of tyre compounds for Pirelli which are hoped to be used by the British GP later this month. The Italian tyre manufacturer have elected to bring their three softest compounds for this weekend, different to last weeks’ Grand Prix which was also run around the Red Bull Ring....
