Wolff: Bottas would have deserved to stay at Mercedes
Article To news overview © Mercedes Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff insists it was not a "straightforward" decision to drop Valtteri Bottas for the 2022 Formula 1 season. Bottas will join Alfa Romeo in 2022 on a multi-year deal, paving the way for George Russell to partner Lewis Hamilton at the Silver Arrows. It ends a four-year relationship between Bottas and Mercedes, which began in 2017. "This hasn't been an easy process or a straightforward decision for us," said Wolff.
