Alpine: Fernando had an incredible comeback season

Alpine F1 boss Laurent Rossi hailed Fernando Alonso's return to Formula 1 and praised Esteban Ocon for winning his first Grand Prix, as he looked back on the team's ‘first' season in the top flight. But calling it their maiden season is arguable because this is the Renault of old skinned in the Blue of the company's forgotten sports brand that needed sprucing up. However, it is fair to say they were the minnows of the 2021 campaign, with only two cars on the grid running Alpine power, while Honda had four, Mercedes eight and Ferrari six.
