Ocon: No need for aspirins with the A522
Esteban Ocon said he was spared the need for painkillers in Bahrain as the Alpine A522 was not porpoising when he drove it. The phenomenon proved to be a major talk of pre-season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain, with the early ground effect cars for 2022 bouncing viciously in some cases down the straights. Teams are working on a fix that does not cost them lap time, but Ocon is confident that Alpine know how to find one. That being said, he did not find porpoising to be an issue when he drove the A522, but saw that is was impacting team-mate Fernando Alonso when he was behind the wheel.
