Ericsson: No major problems on day one of Jerez test
Marcus Ericsson enjoyed a largely trouble-free first day of pre-season testing, as he put the new Sauber C34 through its paces at Jerez.
The Swedish driver caused the first of two red flags, following a spin in sector one mid-way through the morning.
He entered the afternoon session third on the timesheets, improving late in the day to move up to second place.
Ericsson's best lap – a 1:22.777 – was 0.157 seconds slower than pace-setter Sebastian Vettel's quickest time.
He completed 73 laps of the Circuito de Jerez. Felipe Nasr will take over driving duties for Sauber on Monday.
