Toro Rosso praises 'outstanding' Sainz
Toro Rosso/Getty Images Toro Rosso technical director James Key praised Carlos Sainz after the Spaniard qualified in eighth position for his Formula 1 debut. Sainz made it through to Q3 where he edged out both Lotus drivers, while team-mate Max Verstappen will line up in 12th place after making an error on his final Q2 lap. "It was tough for Max not to get into Q3, he had a little bit of a mistake in his Q2 run which cost him a couple of tenths which would’ve been enough to make the cut, but I’m sure he will be more than okay tomorrow," said Key. "Carlos did an outstanding job to get into Q3 in his first ever qualifying session. To be P8 is good, this is a strong start...
