German Grand Prix officially dropped from 2015 calendar

Sutton Images Enlarge The German Grand Prix has been officially removed from the 2015 calendar by the sport's governing body, the FIA. The Nurburgring was originally scheduled to host the event but it has fallen on financial difficulty, while Hockenheim ruled itself out of the running after being named the replacement by Bernie Ecclestone. The FIA has now officially declared the German Grand Prix will not happen this year, the first time since 1960 the race has been absent from the calendar. On Friday, the FIA World Motor Sport Council announced the race had been dropped because "the CRH [commercial rights holder] and promoter did not reach an ageement." There will not be a...
