Hamilton thought he had lost pole after Q3 spin
Lewis Hamilton says he thought he had lost pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix after a spin on his final qualifying lap. The Englishman was second on the grid after his opening attempt in the last segment of qualifying, but he improved on his second lap to take provisional pole position. On his last tour of the Red Bull Ring in Q3, he locked the rears and spun at the first corner, costing him a chance of bettering his previous time and defending pole. However, his team-mate and nearest rival Nico Rosberg locked up and went off at the final turn on his final lap, costing him a chance of starting from the very front of the grid.
