Lotus cleared to run after tyre wait

Lotus has been given the green light to run in opening practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix despite only getting hold of its tyre allocation less than an hour before the session. The Enstone-based team had been locked in talks with Pirelli since Thursday to secure an agreement, after Pirelli refused to release its tyres until the latest payment has been sorted. Lotus deputy team principal Federico Gastaldi explained that the situation had been caused by banking system complications involving a money transfer, with the issues only getting resolved 50 minutes before practice began.
