Ricciardo joins calls for canopies

Daniel Ricciardo has added his voice to the growing list of people who believe Formula 1 should introduce closed cockpits. Motorsport have been rocked hard in recent months after former Formula 1 driver Justin Wilson died in August following a freak accident in an IndyCar race in Pennsylvania. His death came just 37 days after Marussia driver Jules Bianchi lost his life nine months after he suffered severe head injuries during a crash at the Japanese Grand Prix. The FIA has confirmed that is looking into ways to make the sport safer and one of the proposals on the table is closed cockpits, something which Jenson Button feels is long overdue.
