Singapore FP1: Rosberg on top as Mercedes rule

As has become the custom in Formula 1 these days Mercedes dominated the first free practice, this time of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, with Nico Rosberg faster than teammate Lewis Hamilton, in a session which was cut short when Formula 1 debutant Alexander Rossi stuck the Manor in the wall. Rosberg's top time of 1:47.995 was 0.301 of a second up on Hamilton's best, in hot and humid conditions on what is one of the sport's trickiest venues. Daniel Ricciardo showed good pace in the Red Bull to claim third spot on the timing screens, and only a couple of hundredths down on Rosberg's best.
