Vettel calls for barriers review after "shocking" Sainz crash
Sebastian Vettel believes Formula 1 needs to understand why the barriers did not work properly in the accident involving Carlos Sainz during practice for the Russian Grand Prix. Sainz crashed on the approach to Turn 13 during FP3 and his car ended underneath the barriers. It took nearly 20 minutes for the Spaniard to be removed from the stricken Toro Rosso, and Ferrari driver Vettel said it was "shocking" to see how deep Sainz's car had gone. "It's great that he's fine. It would be great to have him with us tomorrow," said Vettel. "It was shocking to see he was so deep in the barriers and that he was covered by barriers.
