Second US GP practice cancelled due to heavy rain
Second practice for the United States Grand Prix has been cancelled due to heavy rain at the Circuit of the Americas. The first session of the race weekend took place in wet conditions on Friday morning after rain overnight, but heavy showers arrived prior to FP2. With the threat of lightning, the FIA decided to delay the session 'indefinitely' as marshals were unable to work in the conditions. Fans were also instructed to seek shelter. The storms swept over the circuit and with rain continuing to fall, Race Control opted to abandon second practice one hour after it was originally meant to start.
