– On Monday, Channel 4 announced that it had acquired the terrestrial television rights to Formula 1 in the UK, following the BBC's premature exit. In a comprehensive analysis of its savings, BBC Sport was asked to slash £35 million from its budget and Formula 1 bore the brunt of the cuts.
