Bottas hands Russian GP win to Hamilton – Race Report
Russian Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton profited from Mercedes team orders to take his eighth win of the season to extend his championship lead to 50 points. Despite a finely-executed drive from pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes elected to give the call to let Hamilton through to take the win in Sochi and inflict maximum damage on championship rival Sebastian Vettel, who finished in third place. Mercedes initially led the race with Bottas and Hamilton in first and second, with the Briton fending off a fast-starting Vettel at the beginning of the race.
