Carlos Sainz Jr. gets first taste of McLaren during F1 test

Carlos Sainz Jr. received his first taste of McLaren’s MCL33 during Wednesday morning’s action at the Yas Marina Circuit, as others also joined their new teams. Sainz Jr. was given permission to link up with McLaren, having spent 2018 at Renault on loan from Red Bull’s scheme, and got some early laps in the orange-liveried machine. Ferrari protégé Charles Leclerc and long-term Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly also joined their 2019 teams, though both have already tested for their respective squads before.
