Antonio Giovinazzi fastest as Mercedes introduces raft of updates
Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi set the pace as Formula 1’s second pre-season test got underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Tuesday morning. Formula 1 has reconvened at the venue for four more days of running, marking the final on-track time prior to the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in mid-March. Giovinazzi set a time of 1:18.589 – over a second slower than last week’s headline-grabbing efforts – to edge ex-GP2 team-mate Pierre Gasly by 0.058s. Gasly’s time, which had remained quickest for most of the morning until Giovinazzi’s late effort, was Red Bull’s best of the test season so far. Tech: Mercedes debuts upgrade...
