New deal could see Alonso test 2019 McLaren F1 car

Fernando Alonso Fernando Alonso could test McLaren's 2019 Formula 1 challenger as part of a new deal that will see the Spaniard take on an ambassadorial role with the team. Alonso retired from Formula 1 at the end of 2018 after a 95 race career over two stints with the English squad. He won two world championships with Renault, and had a spell with Ferrari, but struggled for competitive machinery in the latter part of his career. Though he announced his retirement from F1, Alonso has remained involved with McLaren and will compete in the Indianapolis 500 this year for the squad.
