The Morning After: A state of disbelief

It’s not often a performance in Formula 1 leaves you in complete disbelief. Amazement, sure, that’s one thing. But an actual state of incredulousness where it seems you must be missing something is rare, but on Saturday, that’s exactly what Lewis Hamilton produced. At first, I thought it was just an error. The timing screens had updated Hamilton’s time at the end of Q3 but no-one else’s. How else could he be 1.2 seconds ahead of the pack? Or maybe he’d exceeded track limits. Or maybe everyone had agreed not to go below 1:20 in the wet and Lewis didn’t get the memo? But no, he’s just that good.
