Franco Colapinto joining Alpine shakes up Formula 1 grid

Franco Colapinto is back on the Formula 1 grid — and his return has already set off a wave of changes within the Alpine camp. From Reserve to Race Seat Colapinto, who had been left without a permanent seat after stepping in for Logan Sargeant at Williams in 2024, was later recruited by Alpine as a reserve driver. Speculation had long surrounded Jack Doohan’s contract, and it became clear his deal only covered the first six races of the season. Following the Miami Grand Prix, Alpine made the bold decision to promote Colapinto into Doohan’s seat for the next five races.
